After Qantas announced its ambitious Project Sunrise in 2017, the Australian airline has gradually been putting together the final planning to bring the project to fruition. Qantas is moving towards final offers from both Boeing and Airbus for ultra-long range aircraft, which would fly from Sydney & Melbourne to London.
The Project Sunrise jets would carry up to 300 passengers across four different classes: first class, business class, premium economy and economy. The aircraft design is set to use under-utilised space in the cabin – even below deck where the cargo hold is usually housed – to include stretch and exercise zones.
The current models Qantas is choosing between is the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X, with plans for flights commencing in 2022.
