Drones are all the rage in many industries right now – we’ve previously posted on the construction industry – and it’s difficult to ignore their rise and contribution making many tasks more cost-effective. Being in commercial use since the 1980’s, their practical applications and rapidly evolving technology have been embraced by agricultural producers worldwide.

Some of the applications that drones can be used for include soil and field analysis, crop spraying, irrigation and monitoring. Previous techniques, such as LIDAR, can be too costly and only be used by large agricultural businesses. However, drones have provided small and medium scale farmers with techniques that will help them be competitive and successful within the industry.
