It simply makes sense to have more female programmers, especially when the tech industry is still regarded as very much a ‘boy’s club’. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, women make up 46.2% of all employees, but in technology roles, the percentage of women drops to between 28-31%.
Although there is a belief that Australia tech companies actually want to employ women, in 2017, Startup Muster report revealed the number of full-time females employed in startups is still at a woefully low number.
