Facing the blank page

We’ve all been there… You’ve made some time to write, you’re sitting comfortably at your computer, fingers ready to type. You’re ready to write! You sit and wait; surely inspiration will come soon. Maybe you need a quick coffee first. Maybe you need to chat to a friend first. Maybe you need to clean the oven… watch a movie… iron the curtains…

How can we make our writing sessions productive? There’s not one simple way to do this, but here are some strategies to try:

  • Watch the video on How to Survive your PhD – Live Chat on Fear.
  • Manage your fear of the blank page. The video: Facing the Blank Page offers techniques to turn yourself into a serial writer.
  • Use sentence scaffolds organised into Thinking Bundles: Using cues to help you write
