Identifying the skills of the researcher

The Researcher Development Framework identifies the skills acquired in three phases across four domains.

A Masters by research student will be required to demonstrate skills in phases 1 and 2 with supervisor support, while a Doctoral student will demonstrate skills in all phases, also with supervisor support. Seasoned researchers will perform these skills independently. Please note that each discipline requires the application of skill sets to varying degrees of sophistication at Masters and PhD levels.

Read the competencies outlined in the document and in the diagram below and ask: is this skill relevant to my field and my research, and how? Do I already possess this skill? To what degree? How can I consciously develop these skills?
