12:00-15:00 Wednesday 5 June 2024 at RMIT Vx Lab.

Researchers working in creative technologies at RMIT are invited to gather at the RMIT Vx Lab to meet and share with colleagues also working in the realm of creative technologies research.

This includes researchers working across DSC and STEMM. The event is hosted by the STEMM Virtual Experiences Laboratory – RMIT University, co-delivered with RMIT Imaging Futures Lab (DSC School of Art) and the Centre for Digital Environments (DSC).

In addition to social time over lunch, we will be conducting a pecha kucha in which 8-18 researchers will present a series of speed presentations of 5 minutes each about their research and practice. The aim is to begin building a community of practice by introducing ourselves to our colleagues.

My research interests have been lured into the oceanic after making kin with bioluminescent dinoflagellates on the shores of the Western Treatment Plant. I am interested in how 360° film and sound works (VR) can create transformative audience experiences.  I am the Co-founder of Ocean LAB an interdisciplinary creative lab at Platform ARTS, Geelong. I am the Program Manager of the Master of Arts – Art in Public Space and Co-Lead of the School of Art research group CAST (Contemporary Art and Social Transformation).

My broader practice is situated in ‘expanded photography’ where the boundaries have shifted in the transition to digital media and become diffused into ubiquitous computing. Creative projects have tested the creative and discursive potentials of augmented reality, photogrammetry, 3D scanning, point clouds, virtual reality and webXR as encompassed by the medium and practice of photography.    2024 Creative Tech – Alison Bennett.pptx
