November 22 – 23, 2016, RMIT University, Melbourne.
This workshop is an initiative of RMIT Enabling Capability Platforms (ECPs) and the European project GEO-SAFE (Geospatial based Environment for Optimisation Systems Addressing Fire Emergencies).
This event will launch an Australian Think-Tank offering a space and framework for such sustainable collaborations and exchange during our project. This think-tank will strongly interact with GEO-SAFE during the period of the project (2016-2020).
The aim of the workshop is to engage between academia and final users/stakeholders with the perspective to discuss more closely, for some selected research topics, about the real needs of final users and the gap between them and the current systems (when they exist) as well as to evaluate how to make future research outputs really useful (and used) and impactful.
For the first workshop of the think-tank, we have selected five topics:
- GIS data and risk mapping
- Early warning, preparedness and fire detection
- Mitigation and fuel management
- Efficient responses and initial attack
