Operations Research for Aged Care Planning

RMIT optimisation group would like to invite all home care providers to a workshop on “Operations Research for Aged Care Planning”.

Date and Time: Friday 27 October 2017, 12:00-2:00 pm

Location: Building 8 Level 9 Room 66 (AGR) RMIT City campus

Background

Several countries, particularly Scandinavian countries, have applied Operations Research methods to their Home Care Services.
Operations Research is a discipline that deals with the application of advanced analytical methods to help make better decisions.
Some benefits arising from this work include the following:
Carers spending more time with clients and less time travelling;
Better matching of carers with clients;
Better scheduling of services and staff time including time-off;
Quicker and improved re-scheduling when rostered schedules need to be changed e.g. when a carer calls in sick;
Increased efficiency.

Presentation and discussion
We will present some examples from overseas followed by an open discussion of how we might be able to help local providers of home care services.

Informal discussion over lunch
There will be a chance to mingle and discuss problems informally over a light lunch.
