In this course you will work closely with Blindside, one of Naarm/Melbourne’s most significant Artist Run Initiatives (ARIs). The course will culminate in a group exhibition at the Blindside spaces in the Nicholas Building. The course will be delivered by Nikki Lam, an artist-curator, based in Naarm. Born in Hong Kong, Nikki’s practice deals with the complexity of migration, diaspora and subjective/collective histories, often through poetry, translation, fragmentation, destruction and re-generation.
Drawing on expertise from arts industry professionals, including practising artists and commercial photographers, curators, gallerists (including public, commercial and artist-run initiatives), theorists, critics, gallery/museum administrators and simulated clients, this course will expose you to the broad range of possibilities available to you as an arts practitioner.
From development and responding to a theme, collaboration, curation to project management, you will expand your understanding of practising within a professional context.
