Canvas Inbox – Known Issue

Canvas users will find if they have multiple instances of a course in their Canvas account they cannot differentiate between the courses in the Canvas Inbox, see image below for example.

The following is a quick fix for this issue whilst the Canvas team look for a system wide fix.

Quick Fix Steps

Go to the dashboard and select the three ellipsis on the top right of the course card.

Type in a “Nickname” for the course, you could include the instance and study period with an abbreviation of the course name. Please note: This nickname is only visible to the user creating the nickname.

Go back to the inbox and search for the nickname.
