Simple tip for online lectures: use a large cursor

Student watching on-screen demonstrations, slides and screen recordings often need to follow the teacher’s mouse cursor while a topic is explained.  This can be really tough for students if the teacher’s screen is high resolution, or the student is watching it on a mobile phone.

To make it easier for students, a very simple operating system trick can be used: make the mouse cursor bigger. You can see the difference in the before & after video below:

How to

Windows :

Windows Settings > Devices > Mouse > Related Settings: Adjust mouse & cursor size:

  • Change pointer size
  • Change point color

MacOS:

System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Cursor : Large
