Upcoming Events for July

Session name: Mapping your Blended Course

Date 1st July

Time 10:30 – 11:30

About this event:

When planning or re-designing your course, there are many details that will need to be redeveloped, remixed or created during the mapping process. Curating the course content will be beneficial in helping to maximise efficiency of effort and allow colleagues to provide feedback during the design process.

Date: Friday 2 July

Session name: Communicating assessment expectations; writing the brief and crafting the rubrics

Date: Monday 5 July

Time: 1.30-2.30

About this event:

At times we find ourselves explaining over and over what is required in assessments, the questions keep coming and even though we think we have answered them, when sitting down to grade, we realise too many students have missed the mark. We can do things at learning design stage and in the classroom to stop this from happening. We can also make very clear rubrics to assist students in understanding our expectations. This session will discuss ways of doing these things and hopefully make the job of marking more pleasant.

Teaching requires a complex set of skills, most importantly planning the learning environment and how to engage students with activities. Once we get the plan right, we are halfway there to a great class. This session is aimed at new teaching staff but may also be helpful to those with limited teaching behind them or simply to brush up on planning and engagement.
