Ongoing project work
Project teams will need to find their own style and rhythm for work, and may find different tools useful depending on what they are already familiar with.
What we did
Schedule regular meetings. Having a recurring meeting provides a natural project flow, and can be an obvious way to set deadlines.
Project plan. Whether you choose a formal approach, like creating a Gantt chart, or a more flexible tool like Trello to create a project board, make sure everyone has edit access to be able to view, and ideally updates and communicate about the project.
Shared storage space that everyone can access equally. We found shared Google Folders invaluable to have a common place to store meeting notes, documents as we developed them, resources of interest, and more.
Challenges during the project
Although there are many benefits to participating in a partnership project, they are not without their challenges. Two students discuss the issues they encountered below:
Other approaches and resources
Project logistics card sorting activity
We used a card sorting activity in an early, exploratory workshop to ask students specifically about how they would like to work, and what communication tools and approaches they felt would be most effective.
Trello for managing your project
Trello is a free project tool that allows you to create project boards, organise the board into a workflow or timeline, and then add individual tasks and responsibilities.
