Using Canvas to communicate with students

Create announcements and discussions within Canvas to inform and engage your students.

What:The Canvas LMS (Learning Management System) has a range of communication features that enhance the students learning experience and provide the teacher with valuable feedback on student comprehension and progress

Why:  to build effective communication into your Canvas courses.

How: Use

  • Canvas notifications (students will need to set this up on their mobile device or laptop), and
  •  AnnouncementsDiscussions  to allow for “real time” communication and feedback with threaded responses from the teacher and fellow students.
  •  weekly quizzes (that are not scored). These help you to check that students are understanding your lessons and point the student towards the areas that they should revise.
