RMIT University bolsters the Collaboration Agenda with Express Freighters Australia/QANTAS Flight Training

Research collaborations with Express Freighters Australia (EFA) Flight Training are growing steadily after a delegation from the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering of RMIT University met with EFA-FT representatives at the QANTAS Flight Training Centre in Essendon.

The meeting charted a wide range of collaboration topics and ambitious goals for the future outcomes. As part of the collaboration, EFA-FT will provide unrestricted access to unique assets such as a full-motion Boeing 737 classic training flight simulator and to operative flight crew volunteering to support the joint works. Researchers will undertake activities on several subjects in the areas of human factors engineering, airline pilot training, flight deck optimisation, improved airline operations and improved cargo logistics. An in-depth evaluation of the interfaces and interactions of novel avionics for real-time 4-Dimensional Trajectory operations is also planned, and will provide great benefits to the SAMME’s research activities in that area.
