In this role, Prof Sabatini represents Australia at the ICAO Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP) Impacts and Science Group (ISG). The CAEP ISG consists of academics, scientists and engineers from around the world, and is responsible for informing the ICAO-CAEP Secretariat on scientific findings such as aircraft noise, aircraft particulate matter impacts, climate impacts of aircraft emissions, and the impact on aviation of limiting the increase in global average temperature to less than 2 degree Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
Professor Sabatini is the Group Leader for Aerospace and Transport Cyber-Physical Systems and the Research Program Leader for Digital Aviation and Aerospace Systems in the School of Engineering. Before joining RMIT University in 2013, Prof Sabatini was Co-Principal Investigator and Technical Program Manager of Cranfield University’s task-force working to the European Union Clean Sky Joint Technology Initiative for Aeronautics and Air Transport. His current contributions to ICAO are focussing on aircraft trajectory optimisation for noise mitigation in the terminal area and for gaseous/aerosol emissions reduction.
