Transport Safety Management and Accident Investigation
The Transport Safety Management and Accident Investigation program addresses the following main areas of research:
Safety Management Systems
- Risk Management
- Human Factors
- Safety assurance
- Safety training
Incident and Accident Investigation
- Forensic investigation on structures, components and systems
- Deterministic and probabilistic Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Fractography, FEM/FEA analysis, mechanical testing
- Numerical simulations of failed components
- Methods for improving incident reporting systems
- Simulation and virtual reality
Transport Safety Management (TSM)
Identify the concurrent effect of key factors influencing the effectiveness of reporting systems in aviation organizations:
- Quantitative analysis of organisational, working environment and individual factors in the performance of a safety reporting systems
- Model based on the multivariate method using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM)
Impact of the biometric and anthropometric characteristics of passengers on aircraft safety and performance:
- Analyse the anthropometric attributes of passengers to determine the potential impact of evolving anthropometric characteristics (e.g., standard weight and height)
- Holistic approach: aircraft safety, performance, emergency egress, crashworthiness and ergonomics
