Professional experience is a key component of all initial teacher education programs in RMIT School of Education. You might also hear it referred to as ‘placement’, ‘teaching rounds’, ‘practicum’ or ‘WIL’ (Work Integrated Learning). It refers to the time RMIT pre-service teachers spend in classrooms and other educational settings learning about the complexity of teaching. It is where pre-service teachers get the opportunity to put into practice the ideas they learn about in their initial teacher education programs, and where they can develop their skills and confidence as professionals.

The Professional Experience Team operate out of the School of Education at the Bundoora West Campus, Victoria. The team works closely with students, academics, schools and early childhood settings to create Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experiences and manage placements in each of the following programs:

  1. Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education  GD204
  2. Bachelor of Education (Primary)  BP320 & BP046
  3. Master of Teaching Practice (Primary & Secondary)  MC219 & MC220
  4. Bachelor of Health, Physical Education & Sport (Secondary)  BP319
