GOD’S FAVOURITE is an ongoing drawing-video project that explores concepts of the human body and its interface with technology. I developed my themes of futurist body modification, sickness and spirituality using my body as the ‘host subject’. My approach to this work is not rooted in the facts of reality but, looks forward to the future and what that may contain. The spiritual aspect comes from the idea of the failure of science, and why they are drawn to a higher power. Or is spirituality built into our genetics when we are manufactured in the womb? I’ve been looking at these questions conceptually using both drawing and video to investigate these ideas. I modify my body using both digital and physical costumes as props. I used drawing as a way to record visual ideas that I might incorporate into the video works. Being a beginner with digital software allowed me to explore different designs and effects in my work.
