DANCE MUSIC: RHYTHMIC EXPRESSION IN PASTEL AND SOUND
I am an emerging artist and practising musician based in Ocean Grove, Victoria. My bold and fluid style, both in drawing and music, has emerged from a quiet self-confidence that allows me to improvise and experiment within my work, my creativity driven primarily by intuition and expression. My relationship with music has in many ways informed my drawing practice, with a focus on rhythm and performative mark-making emerging in recent projects, with Dance Music culminating in the combination of each of these interests and ideas into a single installation. Dance Music is a drawing-based project with sound components that work in conjunction to evoke senses of rhythm, improvisation, and performance. Intuitive drawings are created on large sheets of paper using charcoal and pastel. They are displayed in groups, with an improvised musical soundtrack accompanying them.
