Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Sanders’ work addresses the body as material, meaning and muse. Her origins begin with self, yet through analogue manipulation the familiar becomes augmented and re-assembled. Her work spans a multitude of disciplines including, but not limited to; instruments/sonic devices, dolls, sculpture, video, performance and photography grounded in the foundations of a Major in Printmaking, currently being completed at RMIT School of Art. Anna draws focus towards the body working to untangle, disrupt and examine its political inscriptions, seeking emancipation without foregoing lineage – each work, expands the canon, the story of a boundless body swimming in an sometimes industrial, sometimes watery, but always, fluid and fleshy landscape.
