Kawthar was born and raised in Melbourne/Naarm and expresses her heritage through painting, ceramics and photography. The historical and indigenous traditions of North Africa (Amazigh) are a significant aspect of her work ranging from pottery to patterns/motifs with deeper connections to her sense of displacement and personal journey in a contemporary light to craftsmanship.
