Care  |  Support  |  Understanding  |  Curate  |  Ethics.

I, Freda Drakopoulos, live and work on the unceded sovereign land of the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, I acknowledge and pay my respects to Elders, past and present.

As a visual artist and writer, based in Naarm/Melbourne, I undertook a project titled, On Care, as a curatorial research project. After I complete my Master of Arts (Arts Management) I hope to pursue my artistic practice through a curatorial lens, with a unique specific interest in the Artist as Curator, and curating through an expanded manner. My artistic practice is predominately installation based, with considerations for sculpture, text, and matter through performance-based integrations. I have shown at KINGS Artist-Run, Caves Gallery, Seventh Gallery, for the Centre of Visual Art and for IN | ARI in Queensland.

On Care, examines how care is used, negotiated, and referred to within certain artistic practices. The practice of care is important now more than ever as we navigate this constantly changing global world, and thus can ultimately provide assistance and exist as a support structure, to assist in overcoming obstacles through acknowledging ways we can move forward with sustainable practices that are supported by the system of care.
