This practice-led research project investigates the interplay between the seen and unseen within textile art installation practice. Central to this research is the use of agave fibres and other natural materials, which reflect spiritual and ecological interconnections as they allow hands to weave meaning into tactile spatial metaphors for the union of body and cosmos. The research also explores connection through the elements of line, space and light to evoke expansive experiences of visual sensitivity that interrogate the invisible forces shaping our perceptions; drawing parallels with the subtle body and natural systems like neural pathways, ecosystem networks, constellations and geospatial mapping. Created in conversation with intuitive practice, gentleness, walking and foraging, material inquiry and repetitive crafting, the research engages with phenomenology, blurring the boundaries between subject, object and environment. Ultimately, this research addresses how textile installations can use the poetics of thread to reveal dimensions of experience that are usually invisible.
