My practice uses performance, installation, sound, video, and digital technologies to examine the creation and perpetuation of national myths and how they lead to the formation of national identity. It explores the critical potential of failure as a tool to critique and dissect national myths and identity. The research is informed by my lived experience. By subverting metanarratives through failure, absurdity as a property emerges, revealing the contradictory, farcical and constructed nature of national myths and national identity. The ability of absurdity to deconstruct heuristics is helpful in opposition to right-wing nationalism and fascism.
