In You is my Honours creative project. I journey through unseen sentiment, memory, and perception, tracing vulnerability and self-preservation woven into familial and cultural memory. This perceptual exploration unfolds within a series of artworks, engaging with quiet yet unconscious emotional distances within my family’s story. Here, complex and ineffable emotions are transformed into a space that is both perceptible and deeply resonant.
My work The Most Intimate Distance, forms an inner realm, unfolding as a cascade of sensations that move from body to mind, transmitting into shared perception. My authentic affect generates an open-ended perceptual experience in installation, using abstraction, atmosphere, and poetic metaphor to reveal my sentiments, where affect floats and fills the space. Emotions here are not simply expressed; they are embodied and transformed into an affective landscape that weaves each viewer into the narrative, allowing them to touch and be perceived by the visceral presence of memory.
