Loss of my assumptive world refers to a significant part of my grieving process, the expectation for a person to continue to be in your life and needing to adjust this assumption after their passing. I explore the changes that occur in a space following a loss, using colour and light to convey the emotional connection with my abuelos’ apartment and how that has shifted over time.
Alba Goodey Artacho, born and raised in Naarm/Melbourne, aims to strengthen her connection to her Spanish heritage through her art. Following the passing of both her abuelos, her work began to explore themes of grief and the fading of memories, examining how life continues after a loved one passes and the struggle to hold onto the past while also moving forward.
