Megalo Print Studio Graduate Award
MYCELIA – a venture into my past, honouring the previous versions of myself that allowed me to become the person I am today, as well as the people in my life who have shaped my worldview. While growth and change are usually a positive thing, there is a melancholic sense of loss towards things that used to be important to you – hence the use of rot and fungi to represent this feeling. Intermingled with these feelings of melancholia is a deep love for those around me who have helped shape who I am today, which I have represented through various ephemera collected in this period.
I am an emerging queer and neurodivergent artist operating from Melbourne’s Western suburbs. My practice focuses mostly on care, ephemera, and the human condition, as well as folklore and the abject. I mostly work with a variety of printmaking techniques, with some exploration into fibre arts and sculpture. I enjoy creating works that are interactive and incorporate multiple senses – mostly the tactile and proprioceptive – allowing printmaking to exist beyond the page.
