Beyond the Uncertainty is a mixed-medium animation project that explores the concept of uncertainty and the experience of having those feelings, while also searching how one gets out of it. This artwork is an autobiography that centres around my personal experiences dealing with the feeling of uncertainty. An animated medium provides a narrative that illustrates my journey on how I went from letting the uncertainty consume my life to standing up against it and going beyond it. I hope that by the end of this animation, it will provide the viewers with a sense of hope and remind them to live their lives to the fullest and not let the uncertainty hold them back.
Jeffrey Chieu is a Melbourne-based emerging printmaking artist who occasionally delves into and experiments with other art mediums in his works. Having developed a strong interest in animation, Jeffrey has always been exploring ways to incorporate his printmaking practice into his experimental animations, by exploring the relationship between analog and digital art. His interest in animation started to take off after experimenting with animation techniques to develop his short films as part of his many projects at university.
