Learning Through Unlearning: The abandonment of Ideas and Embracing Process-Based Painting
My work is guided by my interest in deepening the connection of the artist to medium relationship, investigating possibilities that are presented to me through intuitive methods. With a focus on abstraction within figuration, I employ compositional strategies and layering techniques that explore the interplay of colour and the natural movement of paint to build depth and alter perception. Central to my process is the principle of medium correspondence, where I allow the inherent qualities of my materials to guide and shape the creative direction. This approach results in works that are both spontaneous and thoughtfully constructed, inviting viewers to engage with the nuanced interchange of colour, form, and space.
