Reflections of Light in Time is formed through the combination of traditional copper plate etching and experimental photographic techniques. This work stemmed from viewing reflections of car brake lights on a wet road; this fleeting stillness was a connection between multiple moving actors that remains in the periphery of perception, and is only realised when attention is given to it. It is this attention that creates a shift, from movement to static, and in light, time, and space. Peripheries are profoundly ambiguous, and in a modern, technology-based society, focus is often diverted to the closest source of stimulation, disregarding transience, liminality and reflections.
Siena’s practice is influenced by the transforming landscapes that surround them. It aims to capture reflections and small moments in an abstract nature, while being driven by experimentation.
