COMING ONTO ME: AWAY FROM ME.
I want to write you a love letter.
This project considers desire, and discomfort.
‘Often it is the desire between us and the object of desire that fills the space in between with the blue of longing.’ –Rebecca Solnit, A field guide to getting lost.
I am intrigued with the wanting.
The desire to tend to and locate something across myself, to tend to something in us.
Auto Theory and Queer Futurity have been the main tenets of my practice, constructing bridges between the personal and theoretical to imagine collective possibilities.
Sylva Storm is an interdisciplinary artist working on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri, Woi-wurrung people. Sylva’s practice is interested in the body as a collective site, a personal archive visited by desire, humour, labour and shared histories. Using their body as a consistent link, they work through mediums of performance, video, installation and painting. In 2023 they completed a residency in France at The Chateau Orquevaux, as well as the SUPERMASSIVE artist mentorship with APHIDS. This year they have exhibited selected works in BUFF at Greenfloor Gallery and JACUZZI in the Nicholas Building. Next year they will be completing a residency with artist Amrita Hepi at her studio in Bangkok.
