Jemima is a graduate of Master of Arts (Arts Management) and has hopes of running an art space called Worth Projects for emerging artists and community. Their personal practice is inspired by women and non binary folk’s experiences with how they have been treated based on their bodies. Their aim is to spark conversations about body acceptance and provide fat people a chance to see their bodies represented in a fine art capacity. Giving often unseen bodies space to feel represented and worthy. Regaining control over the perception of the naked body and creating a safe space for people to not only feel comfortable in themselves but to also be celebrated.
Worth Projects is fuelled by this passion to give space to be seen. It is an accessible and versatile gallery space for emerging artists and local community members to showcase their art and take part in workshops, artist talks, arts business talks, makers markets, poetry readings, screenings and the list goes on. It will give people the time and space to escape everyday life, relax, play and connect with community. Everyone deserves creative downtime and many people would like the time and space to be creative but are often confused or scared to get started. Worth Projects is an inviting place for people and aims to make the arts less elitist and a space for everyone to feel they’re worthy of creativity.
