Looking for Mollie uses photography to examine the legacy of taxidermied zoo animals, focusing on Mollie, a Bornean orangutan from Melbourne Zoo (1901–1923). As part of my MFA capstone, Looking for Mollie critiques the relationship between taxidermy, objectification, and cultural representation in zoos and museums. The series features staged portraits and specimens from Melbourne Zoo and the Victorian State Collection, highlighting the impact of taxidermy on public perception and ethical concerns about animal representation.
