FOND MEMORIES IN MY HEAD Be loud,  Be funny, Reach each catharsis, Release shame. I want to put intimate things on a wall. Talk about things people have shamed me for. Become shameless and be myself, and in turn help others release shame. I am repurposing these sheets that may have been thrown away. This means that the bed sheet becomes a loaded symbol; it is intimacy, privacy and something that isn’t usually taken outside of a bedroom or a clothesline and now it’s in a public space. Each sheet has a story that I dont know about and can only be told by the original owner.
Anjali Krishnapillai-Spode is an emerging artist from Naarm (Melbourne). Using text and diaristic displays of her inner world and feelings. It can be confronting but the work stands powerfully and unashamed. Her work opens a dialogue by putting stigmatised and private feelings on a wall or on a piece of paper. Making work about abuse, addiction and the human condition is imperative to creating human connection and releasing shame.
