UNADULTERATED
Unadulterated is the beginning of a collection that focuses on words that I love. Unadulterated, rage, death, worship, longing, filth, rot, lust, gratification, sickness, torture, gore, hate and solace
The collection explores ‘bad emotions’. How do we act when someone is holding us down? Why is it so easy to connect with wrongness? You can rage and scream and fight but ultimately you’re stuck and all you can do is lie down and let the experience wash over you, pray that it somehow ends without you having to do anything. I see these works as a mirror held up to our perceived worst parts; we don’t want to think about it because to think about it means to know you can relate.
The QR codes on the post cards hold more information on my own understanding of these words but it is completely optional. The audience can take what they want from the work.
My work consists of scenes that build the narrative though small details. I am interested in tone and feeling that captures an audience and pulls them into another world. I have previously worked with mannequins but I am currently interested in the storytelling capabilities of tapestries, as well as written word for a more direct approach.
