Halle Brown

YOU ARE A WOMAN WITH A MAN INSIDE HER HEAD WATCHING THAT WOMAN, WATCHING A WOMAN AWARE OF THE MAN INSIDE WATCHING HER.

Halle (They/She) is a multidisciplinary artist who creates works within the struggles of having a body. Wrestling with the perceptions, judgments, critiques that Fat bodies experience within the binary. They explore their fears and angst through the depiction of their body, using their body as a fleshy, blobby Muse. Self-eviscerating ‘Spilling their guts’ their organs for the pleasure of the viewer, goading the audience to look closer to uncover the answers the perceivers are searching their flesh for. Putting a magnifying glass to the experiences that Fat bodies all can relate to, putting a spotlight on the Fatphobia that underlies the fabric of society. Halle is a person with Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) who experiences the side effects that come with the condition. They use their experiences and the experiences of others within the medical system as the basis for their work, and explores the body though an intersectional feminist lens.
