THEATRE OF ONE explores interiors and exteriors. When masks are worn, a tension is created through the inclusion, alteration and omission of information. The video works present ambiguous masked characters in equally ambiguous domestic locations. Paired with videos of text inspired by my own anxious ruminations, viewers are placed in a concentrated environment of scrutiny and uncertainty as attention is split between an overwhelm of information, and a scarcity of it.

I am a mask maker, sculptor, and video artist born and based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Combining my skills in drawing, sculpting, and filmmaking, I create works that draw from personal experiences and feelings. Continuing the culture-spanning practice of mask making, I present my masks as both objects-in-waiting, and props, worn in video works that explore themes of identity, expression, censorship, and ambiguity.
