My name is Layla, I am a printmaking artist who specialises in digital printing with complex installations. My work focuses mainly on the development of the self and processing my emotions through my pieces. My practice often involves complex layering of images, blurred/grainy edits to images I take of myself, as well as poetry and text. Using myself as a symbol has allowed a consistent theme through all my works in this degree. I am inspired by being alive, as basic as that is. The desire to know myself is why I create. I am also driven by the desire to make people think deeply about themselves; I want people to look inwards at themselves using the text and the aesthetic of melancholy that is portrayed in my works.
