TOOLS explores the deep connection between creator and creation. As art becomes further enveloped by trend and algorithm, the human element becomes lost. Consumed like air, rather than heard like speech. This series of representational paintings aims to bring attention to the detrimental effects of mass consumerism upon art and artist, calling to attention that the human behind the art, and the art itself, are one in the same.
The series of oil paintings on canvas are truly a technical exploration aimed to further myself as a practitioner. With only a couple month experience with oil paint, I’ve had to challenge myself with every work. Aiming to create something that is visually stunning, technically proficient and honest in its representation of myself.
I aim to contribute, not dilute.
But that can only be obtained by the convergence of technical mastery, and raw honest expression. It is an ideal I do not believe I have reached, but as I explore more mediums, forms and concepts I find myself on the path, and I cant wait to see where it takes me.
