I am an emerging visual artist specialising in drawing and currently working in multiple mixed media forms. I explore the concept of the ‘inner child’ and inner worlds’, and reflect on reminiscing memories throughout my childhood. Using old school TVs has played a major role within my practice, as I grew up exposed to a lot of modern media entertainment (video games, animation, film, comic books). Hence, I’m heavily influenced by them.
My intention is to evoke experiences of childhood nostalgia for myself and the viewer. I’m currently exploring colour palettes that create a childlike, cartoonish feel, allowing the work to express a sense of nostalgia. I explore various colour palettes to create a sense of nostalgic reminiscence.
I am also intrigued by themes of ‘fantasy vs. reality’ and aim to recreate existing fictional stories as a response to self-reflection, and the ability to use balanced imagination through fantasy-life, which results in a sense of freedom or comfort, that supports that supports my personal growth and provides an escape from/to reality.
Over the past few years, I’ve transitioned my original 2D. work into an immersive fictional world through installations where the viewer can enter within the space. Continuing this path, I will always aim to project these feelings of sentimentality and bittersweet nostalgia through my works.
