IT NEVER RAINS ON GOOGLE MAPS is a project exploring the act of digitally “dropping a pin” on Google Maps. Google Maps being an application built for navigation that I repurpose as a tool for artistic exploration. Street View also captures a surreal world of perspectives, vanishing points, and unexpected distortions, the beginning point for each work. The project is focussed on visual anomalies; glitches, blurs, and misalignments that emerge from an automated stitching process. These digital interruptions become visual metaphors for the unpredictability of perception and borders between reality and its interpretation.
