Abstract:

This research investigates the disconnect between audience engagement and the ethical realities of global fashion production, specifically within the arts and education sectors with a focus of addressing long term sustainability. The issue lies in how fashion-related exhibitions and design programs often aestheticize clothing without addressing its human and environmental costs. Creating a visually and emotionally compelling educational tool that bridges critical conversations around labour, waste, and sustainability with accessible, curriculum-linked learning.

The result is the production of a 28 page magazine for education purposes with a multimodal approach, research-led exhibition and educational resource that uses storytelling and visual design in the format of a magazine.
