I SEE SIGNS – Archiving the Everyday Through the Practice of Noticing is an observational series developed during the Masters of Art in Public Space. The work takes the form of a series of projects made in different stages: A collection of sketchbook drawings and reflective writing, a collection of studio works and a series of public murals. Each acting as a record of thought, encounter, and reflection gathered through situated engagement with the everyday.

Through autoethnographic research methods, this project explores how embodied and attentive modes of observation can uncover overlooked details, rhythms, and textures that shape daily experience. In this project the practice has acted as both documentation and inquiry, producing an evolving archive of ideas and impressions held in exchange with the environments I inhabit. Drawing from affect theory and visual fieldwork, I See Signs positions creative practice as a method of noticing and understanding, foregrounding the role of lived experience in shaping knowledge and understanding of our surroundings. The resulting body of work offers both a visual and written mapping of how meaning emerges through the interplay between place, perception, and process.

I am a Brazilian – Australian practicing artist, painter and muralist. This project has been informed and motivated by my sustained experience working within public spaces over the last 8 years thorough muralism. The production of I See Signs gave me the opportunity to focus not solely on producing work to be situated in public spaces, but rather to treat the spaces themselves as the layered sites of inquiry.
