The imagery in my work is akin to a form of assemblage and is intended to challenge notions of totality. Through relations of exteriority and emergent properties, these works may be understood in terms of material, expression, stability and coding. If we picture the assemblage drawn out as a diagram, we will focus on the lines that connect, rather than the component parts themselves.
In my project, I have explored the concept of the social assemblage through composite image-making, by bringing heterogeneous elements together into reactive new forms. The images are fragmented and chaotic, exploring both social and psychological interior spaces.
