A SLEEPWALK FROM ME TO YOU.
When sleep becomes me, I dream of walking from me to you; how the sun kisses my eyes before I can kiss your cheek; I find my waking life a dream, too; there are no lines here, and so I draw circles and so they lead me nowhere; I rest my head on my pillow and you look at me from across the world; I walk like I did last night and fall short by dawn.
I am attempting to translate conversations between myself, others and the shared environment- those occurring outside a conscious parameter. These works are feelings I won’t allow myself to meet. A shadow of myself trailing behind me; an affirmation to my soul. I hear it calling and I refuse to call back. These works are a collection of external tensions; passing a stranger who is passing a landmark that ignites a memory that is wholly theirs; the accumulation of experiences in a train car that I will never contribute to, because the doors shut up just as I reached out for them; and the proceeding feeling of being watched, publicly and sympathetically, as I step behind the yellow line.
