Revolting.
My name is Lillian Catriona Flügge. I am a silversmith in training studying BA Gold & Silversmithing here at RMIT. In my final work, the Revolting series pays tribute to the music and fashion subcultures that have shaped me. It’s a love letter to the musicians, designers, and communities that helped me find my identity in this world. It combines the aesthetics of the 1970s punk movement with modern alternative fashion, fusing techniques such as stone setting, soldering, and wax casting. I’ve crafted a collection that embodies the rebellious spirit and nonconformity these influences represent.
Throughout my life, I’ve been captivated by metal and anything shiny, and this course has helped me channel that passion into jewellery making. Growing up navigating life’s challenges while exploring my queerness and grappling with mental health as most understand was quite difficult, I turned to music and fashion as my outlets, providing solace and strength. I wanted to create a series that was vicious and sharp, enhanced by metal’s inherent nature with a beautiful shine embedded with radiant stones. This collection is for anyone unafraid to be bold, defiant, and unapologetically different.
