RETURN ELSEWHERE explores the rural Australian landscape through investigation into simultaneously known and unknown environments. The works depict eerie distorted landscapes with recurring subjects of roads and trees, places of transition to which the viewer is prompted to pass through. The work focuses on these ideas within this dream-like setting to prompt a response of fear and uncertainty from the viewer. the series of canvas works provide windows into a distorted and abstracted reality.
I am a Melbourne born primarily drawing based artist living in the eastern suburbs. My practise is led by my curiosity towards my environment. The influences of my location are evident through my work, presenting recurring themes of the natural and structural environment which intersect in the outer city suburbs. I am drawn to depicting night scenes, roads, houses and trees utilising various drawing and painting mediums.
