My creative process is guided by exploration, embracing the unexpected rather than adhering to predetermined design. Improvisation and chance shape my engagement with materials as I fold, cut, forge, and solder. Working primarily with metal, I use techniques such as pressforming and enamelling to shape forms that emerge intuitively, rather than through fixed outcomes.
Colour plays a foundational role in my practice. For this series of work, I investigate the emotional and symbolic power of bright, primary colours through simple geometric forms—visual elements often associated with childhood learning and play. These shapes and hues evoke clarity and innocence, referencing the unfiltered way we experience the world in our early years. As adults, we tend to complicate what was once instinctively understood. By returning to these elemental forms, I aim to strip away complexity and invite viewers to reconnect with a more intuitive, joyful mode of perception.
I see the studio as a site of experimentation, where accidents and irregularities are not only welcomed but essential. These moments of unpredictability often reveal new directions, allowing the work to evolve fluidly. I am drawn to the expressive potential of materials—how they respond to pressure, heat, and touch—and I allow these responses to guide the making process.
My objects are open-ended in meaning, shaped by curiosity and surprise. Whether wearable or sculptural, each piece reflects a dialogue between hand, material, and process. I consider making to be a living practice—responsive, dynamic, and full of possibility.
