Shona McMahon is a Naarm based artist who has a print informed multi-disciplinary practice. Quintessentially, Shona explores her need for belonging, of finding place, in the natural or other world, and in doing so advocates nurturing of, and connection to, landscape, self and community.
Memory Stains is a studio-based investigation exploring the alchemy of liquid materials through the lens of printmaking. The project unfolds as a series of experimental stain reactions and open-ended studies that embrace play and curiosity as essential instruments for creative healing.
Memory Stains also reflects on shared human experiences: how we carry memory, how we are marked by life, and how we might come to see those marks or stains as validation of our experiences and as visible evidence of resilience. The project moves beyond the anxiety of the trauma and aims to offer a quiet space for reflection, vulnerability, and the healing potential of creative connection.
